Claiborne & Churchill, located in San Luis Obispo, has a focus on the dry, white wines of the Alsace region of France. They produce about 10,000 cases of wine a year with a focus on traditional European winemaking techniques. It’s a gem of a winery if you love great whites. … and trying them randomly….2009 was indeed a superb wine. Soft cherry fruit, pepper, bramble, hint of clove spice, mint – we had these with wild boar and sage sausage and merguez, with harrissa mayonnaise. Being from California I’ll always have soft spot for zinfandel, this guy is a benchmark for the rest. 2009 Ridge Geyserville Me and Bonny Doon…

  • 2012 Scotto Family Cellars Malbec

This is my third review of a wine from the Scotto winemaking family of Lodi. First I tried the 2011 50 Harvests Cabernet Sauvignon, followed by the 2012 50 Harvests Meritage. • 2015 Wine Prices Forecast

… this year. Premium wine being wines over $20 a bottle. Even though there is plenty of supply as California has had three large harvests in a row the demand is even higher.
